Talent competitions & more

Some of the biggest names in country music perform in Tamworth during the Festival; there are a range of events which aim to discover the stars of tomorrow. The competitions are for singers, instrumentalists, poets, dancers, bands, songwriters and the youngest of performers.


2TM Discovered Quest

The inaugural quest was held in January 2023 and staged at Centrepoint Tamworth. Submissions will be accepted via the 2TM website 2TM.com.au with five finalists chosen to perform at the Discovered concert on Saturday 27 January 2024. A panel of three judges will decide the winner on the day.

Golden Guitars – Australian Country Music Awards of Australia

The CMAA Australian Country Music Awards of Australia are owned and managed by the Country Music Association of Australia. See more information on the Golden Guitars at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.


Toyota Country Music Busking Championships

The Toyota Country Music Busking Championships have been designed to celebrate and recognise the talent in Peel Street during the festival. Registered buskers are judged throughout the week with a handful chosen to perform at the Best of the Buskers Concert on the final weekend of the festival.


Toyota Star Maker

Toyota Star Maker is Australia’s premier and most prestigious annual country music talent search. Aspiring artists are invited to compete for the coveted Toyota Star maker title and prize package including a full deal and the 12 month use of a fully-serviced new Toyota car.

Golden Gig, Sponsored by Maccas

Golden Gig, Sponsored by Maccas gives young country music artists the opportunity to display their talent and kick start their musical journey.

Macca’s Stage will be located on Kable Avenue (near Toyota Park).

Capital Country Music Association National Songwriter Award

All material submitted must be country music. Songs will be pre-judged and the decision of the judges will be final.

Entrants can enter as many songs per section as they wish. Winners will be notified via Facebook and awards will be presented at the CCMA National Jamboree.

Australian Country Music People’s Choice Awards

The Australian Country Music People’s Choice Awards give “the people” the right to vote and have a say in who they believe is the best.

The 2024 Awards will be announced at a gala presentation in January.
