2015 Queen of Country Music

Katrina Higgins

Having grown up in Tamworth, the Country Music Festival is something Katrina has always enjoyed each January.
She loves the atmosphere of the event, the busking, discovering new talent, supporting stars who travel back to Tamworth for their fans, the boost it gives to our economy, the visitors, and, of course, the country music!

Katrina jumped at the chance to enter this year’s quest when asked by her employer at Tamworth Shoppingworld Centre Management where she is an Administration Assistant.  Shoppingworld is one of Tamworth’s leading shopping destinations and Katrina thoroughly enjoys the customer service aspect of her job.

Katrina is a mum to three children, 6 year old son Koby, 4 year old daughter Kora and 2 year old son Jordi.  She describes herself as a social butterfly, dividing her spare time between her love for playing Oz tag (a form of touch football), reading, traveling, attending concerts and enjoying good food and fine wine.

Katrina loves living in Tamworth. She feels it has everything the big cities have but with the friendliness and ease of country living.  She also loves the fresh country air and great outdoor spaces.

2014 Queen of Country Music

Lucinda Whitehorn

When Lucinda Whitehorn decided to participate in the 2014 Queen of Country Music Quest, she entered wanting to have a different Country Music Festival to the one she has had since she was a child. She certainly achieved her goal. While on her quest journey, Lucinda gained a greater appreciation for the organisation and teamwork that goes into presenting such a large event and managed to make many new friends.

Currently employed by Tamworth Regional Council as a Business Support Officer in the Regional Services Directorate and next year she will have a new challenges when she makes a move to the Risk and Compliance unit. Lucinda recently completed her studies in Local Government and says that one of her significant achievements was to finish while continuing to work full time.

In April 2014 Lucinda took part in the charity bike ride “Tour De Rocks” which raises funds for cancer. She also enjoys playing Oztag where she competes with three separate teams and participates in the Tamworth Park Run.

Having lived in Tamworth all her life, Lucinda says Tamworth is wonderfully situated with all the great facilities you would find in the city but always staying true to its country roots. Lucinda has loved representing Tamworth and the Country Music Festival during her time as Queen of Country Music for 2014 and looks forward to meeting all the entrants participating in the 2015 Queen of Country Music Quest.
