20-29 January 2017

The Toyota Country Music Festival Tamworth 2015 is set for a huge first night with the announcement that Kasey Chambers will headline the iconic free Opening Concert in Toyota (Bicentennial) Park on 16 January.

The Opening Concert is traditionally one of the biggest events of the annual Festival with this year's concert attracting over 10,000 people.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of the news that Kenny Rogers will perform as part of his Through the Years World Tour concert at TRECC on 25 January.

Kasey Chambers is one of our most gifted singer songwriters with a swag of chart topping singles and albums, 13 Golden Guitar Awards, and an endearing best-selling biography, A Little Bird Told Me.

Chambers said “We always love coming to Tamworth, and I'm excited to be headlining the Opening Concert where I'll be playing songs from all my albums and some new music from my brand new album, Bitter Sweet”.

Festival Manager Gavin Flanagan said “This year's Opening Concert with Adam Harvey and Troy Cassar Daley was one of the highlights of the Festival so we've set the bar pretty high. That's why we're so pleased to announce Kasey as the headline artist of next year's event.”

“We've confirmed Kenny, now Kasey, but we're also excited to announce that some of Australia's finest country talent has been confirmed to perform in Tamworth in January.”

Announced to perform as part of the huge Festival line up in January are O'Shea, Paul Costa, Aleyce Simmonds, The Bushwackers, the Viper Creek Band and Tamworth's own Felicity with many more to be announced in the coming months.

Flanagan said “This is just the start of the artist announcements with some of Australia's biggest stars still to come as we live up to our name as the largest music festival in the Southern Hemisphere!”

The Opening Concert will take place in Toyota Park on 16 January and is free to all ages.
